Johar set to jointly produce with Akshay KumarIt’s a combination not heard of before but it seems as if Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar are indeed joining hands. The duo will be jointly producing Punit Malhotra’s forthcoming movie. Kumar will also be starring in the film, BizAsia has learnt.
Kumar, according to Times of India, said, “We’re two very passionate producers with one great aim — to entertain. Both Karan and I want to make our fathers proud. Cheers to our new venture”.
Johar also commented, “I can’t divulge too much now. But what I can definitely say is that the movie is mainstream and has a very strong underlying social message. It’s solid and hard-hitting. Punit brought me this amazing script. I immediately approached Akshay and he was equally thrilled with the idea”.
Johar goes on to add his closeness to Kumar’s wife, Twinkle, “This association is not just professional, but also emotional. I’ve known Tina (as Twinkle is affectionately called by those close to her) since the age of four”.
Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor will be starring in Malhotra’s forthcoming, after which he will begin working on this joint production.
